The basic idea of the study refers to a previous sociological observation that social relations contribute to increased self-confidence, sense of security and motivation (through bonding-type relations) and problem solving (through access to help through bridging-type relations) of the individuals.
The author explores the possibilities through which in the online space, through culture, these relationships can be built and used more efficiently. He proposes an online news platform which is both event- and community-driven and is able to mobilize both the bonding and bridging relationships of users. By combining the operational network architecture of Facebook and Twitter, the author proposes a community portal optimized for tracking individual and group problems, which – through a technological background tuned to intersubjectivity and knowledge – motivates the user to go through the whole scale of possible relationships between bonding and bridging, thus providing a complete community experience.
